Baseball Drop Four To Lower Columbia

Bellevue College baseball lost all four games this weekend to host Lower Columbia, falling by scores of 4-1 and 3-2 on Saturday before being handed lopsided 10-4 and 18-3 losses on Sunday. Bellevue played the Red Devils, ranked #1 in the TicketSmarter NWAC Coaches’ Poll, evenly on Saturday in a pitchers’ duel in both games. Errors plagued the ‘dogs as Noah Deese allowed only one earned run in the opening start while Chase Archibald allowed only one run in four innings of relief. JT Rican was two-for-three at the plate.

Bellevue was even tougher in the 3-2 loss as the Bulldogs tied the game at two in the seventh on a single by Brandon McKinley. R’Mani Adams and Micah Hagler were stellar on the mound but the Red Devils got to Hagler in the eighth piecing together three singles to squeeze across the game winner.

In game three the Bulldogs jumped out 2-0 and were up 3-2 in the fourth before the pitching went south for the rest of the series. From the fourth inning of game three through game four, Bellevue’s pitchers ran out of steam after being so strong on Saturday, issuing a whopping 20 walks and eight hit batters. Ryker Fortier was three-for-five while McKinley and Rican had two hits apiece in the Sunday opener.

Bellevue will take on Tacoma this weekend in a four-game set beginning with a Saturday doubleheader Mar. 2 at home. First pitch is set for noon.
