Bulldog Women Split at NWAC Friendlies

Bellevue College women’s soccer went 1-1 this week at the season-opening NWAC Friendlies, held at Tukwila’s Starfire Complex. Bellevue fell 1-0 to Lane on Tues. Aug. 20 before topping Rogue, another Oregon school, 4-3 on Wed. Aug. 21.

Bellevue outshot Lane 8-6 but could not get one across as Lane’s Azjah Tocher recorded the shutout for the Titans. Paige Boyce and Anya Gilbertson split the game in the box for BC in the tough defensive battle.

Bellevue’s offense got going in game two by putting up 15 shots on goal as the ‘dogs had ball control the entire 90 minutes. Arene Thongoulay scored on an assist by Haley Swanson within the first minute of the match. Rogue answered with two goals before BC steam-rolled with two more goals in the first half by Brianna Clark and Natalie Jas before Oteta Kitiona closed it out with BC’s fourth goal at the 71:48 mark in the second half. Jas was aggressive up front with three shots on goal for Bellevue.

The ‘dogs have a scrimmage this Sat. Aug. 24 at home vs. Vancouver Island University at 7 p.m.
