Bellevue College volleyball followed their strong performance against the NWAC East Region teams with a convincing three set sweep over West Region Lower Columbia today in Longview. Bellevue swept by scores of 25-13, 25-23, 25-16.
The ‘dogs were clean throughout committing only 10 total errors with a hit percentage of .310. Bellevue led 13-4 early on in set one as the front row was on fire led by kills by Olivia Beal, Lexi Echols, and Annie Goetze. Another kill by Echols followed by an ace by setter Mandi Nottingham put BC up 15-4 to set the tone for the rest of the night.
Bellevue got a brief scare in set two as Lower Columbia was two points away from tying the match at 23-19 before Bellevue reeled off six straight points with Maycee Ward at the service line for the comeback win in set two.
Mya Hejl was a dominant force up front with six kills and a .600 kill percentage Gillian Merhoff added five kills on a .571 clip.
Bellevue travels to Pierce College this Friday Sept. 6 to play in the Pierce-Highline Invite, facing off against co-host Pierce at noon.
