Volleyball Falls To Top-Ranked Linn-Benton at Elite Eight

Bellevue College volleyball lost 3-1 to top-ranked and three-time defending NWAC Champion Linn-Benton by scores of 25-20, 24-27, 13-24, 18-25. The Bulldogs won the opening set and had fans second-guessing the dominance of #1 Linn-Benton after falling by just two points in set two. Down to set point at 24-21, the ‘dogs reeled off three straight points as Mya Hejl and Jessi Mahler delivered big time kills. But the Roadrunners rallied for the close win sending the match tied at 1-1.

Linn-Benton’s defense then clamped down preventing any type of Bellevue rally as the Bulldogs managed just eight total kills in set three and 10 in the final set four, hitting .052 over the last two sets.

The serving became an issue for the ‘dogs as they had only two aces and eight serve errors while Linn-Benton had eight aces and only three errors all day in serve receive.

Freshman outside hitter Lexi Echols ended a stellar freshman camapaign with a bang as she delivered 14 kills and hit .300. Maycee Ward had 12 digs while Mahler had 13 kills and 10 digs.

Bellevue closes the 2024 season at 26-9.
