Hot Shooting South Puget Sound Take Win

Bellevue College women’s basketball fell victim to a high scoring visiting South Puget Sound team, falling 97-64 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The Clippers poured in 51 points in the first half as they nearly approached the century mark in the blowout win over the host Bulldogs.

After leading 19-17 in the first quarter, South Puget Sound went on an offensive spree like no other, shooting an amazing 81% from the field including six-for-seven from three point range. They were 13-for-16 in the quarter lighting up the scoreboard for 34 points while BC managed just 15.

The halftime recovery did nothing for Bellevue as the Clippers came out in the third quarter and took advantage of eight Bulldog turnovers and were aggressive underneath getting several second opportunities with seven offensive rebounds as they outscored Bellevue 21-9. The ‘dogs put in only two buckets in the entire quarter.

Myana Calloway had 17 points on the night for Bellevue and was a perfect eight-for-eight from the free throw line. Ghadir Ramadan had 12 points and also led the team with six rebounds.

The Bulldogs are now 5-6 and will take the holiday break before traveling to Lower Columbia for the LCC Holiday Classic on Sat. Dec. 28. The team opens up with the host Lower Columbia for a 7 p.m. tipoff.
