Men’s Basketball Fall to South Puget Sound

After a strong and competitive first half, the visiting Bellevue College men’s basketball team fell flat in the second half, losing 83-67 to host South Puget Sound.

The Bulldogs led 39-37 after the first half as Darek Usitalo had 13 points. BC outrebounded the Clippers 16-10 before things got flipped for the worse in the second half.

South Puget Sound put up 46 points and outrebounded Bellevue 24-4 as the Clippers drained 19-of-30 for 63% from the field. The pivotal point came near the 11:08 mark as South’s Nehemiah Pollard drained two free throws to go up 63-52; putting the Clippers up by double digits. A missed layup by the ‘dogs followed by a three pointer by South turned a nine point BC deficit to 14 in a matter of seconds as the Clippers cruised onward.

Usitalo had 17 points for Bellevue while Shawn Etheridge, Cooper Brown, and Julian Ibarra all had 12. Bellevue is now 5-7 and will take a week of for the holidays before hitting the hardwood again on Mon. Dec. 30 for a matchup at Lower Columbia at 6 p.m.
