Women’s Basketball Routs Pierce

Bellevue College women’s basketball came out firing on all cylinders breaking the half-century mark at halftime in an 84-49 win over visiting Pierce. The Bulldogs scored 52 points in the half and jumped out 28-13 after the first quarter. Down 5-3 just 1:40 into the game, BC went on a rapid 10-0 run to erase any hopes of a possible stunning upset by the 0-15 Raiders Devyn Warns had a layup, steal and second layup in 20 seconds which were followed by a pair of three pointers by Aysha Peter as the Bulldogs ran away from it from there on.

BC continued the dominance in the second quarter outscoring Pierce 24-10 as the Bulldogs drained three consecutive three-pointers in the closing minute as Sahara Soufi (two) and Lily Auelua (one) all found net from long range to put Bellevue up 52-23 at the half.

Peter led Bellevue with 20 points on seven-for-10 shooting. Warns added 15. The win ends Bellevue’s pre-season as the ‘dogs (8-7) turn their attention to North Region play with a home game this Wed. Jan. 8 vs. Olympic at 5 p.m.
