Although coming off a rough ending to pre-season play, the Bulldogs came into league play with a fresh start by handling visiting Olympic with ease 88-62 last night at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Bellevue put up a pair of 44 point halves in a consistent performance. The ‘dogs went on a 10-0 run nearly midway through the first half to seize control. Daviaun Gale drained a three-pointer to put Bellevue up 14-6 as the Bulldogs gradually worked their way up to a 25 point lead after the first half.
The second half remained a blowout as Josh Dabasinksas put BC up by over 30 points at 52-21 just 2:17 into the half.
After coming off games in which the three-ball was their only weapon, Bellevue put up 74 shots with only 25 being from beyond the arc, shooting over 50% from inside the three point line. Darek Usitalo was a big factor in the 74-57 shot difference as he yanked down a game-high 18 rebounds giving Bellevue the chance to control the ball for the entire game. He also led BC with 17 points along with teammate Sawyer Cottrell.
Bellevue takes their 1-0 North Region record to Everett this Sat. Jan. 11 for a 4 p.m. tipoff.
