Men’s Basketball Rallies For Huge Win Over Edmonds

Bellevue College men’s basketball came back from an 11 point halftime deficit to overcome visiting Edmonds 69-67 at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion.

Down by 13 at one point in the second half, the ‘dogs took the lead 61-60 with 4:10 on the clock on a bucket by Sawyer Cottrell. Staying within three points until the final minute, Shawn Etheridge nailed a jump shot with :17 remaining to tie the game at 67. Darek Usitalo then came up big with a steal with three seconds remaining and was fouled. The freshman calmly made both free throws to seal the huge comeback win.

Usitalo was 10-for-11 from the free throw line with 16 points while Max Mayo led the ‘dogs with 20 points. Bellevue is now tied for second place at 4-2 in North Region play (9-12 overall) and will travel to Mount Vernon on Wed. Jan. 29 to take on first place Skagit Valley at 7 p.m.
