Women’s Tennis Takes Fourth at NWAC Championships

Bellevue College women’s tennis took fourth at he NWAC Championships held May 2-3 in Yakima. On Fri. May 2, Bellevue took on Treasure Valley, the No. 2 seed in a semi-final but fell just short as the Chukars came out on top in a close 5-4 duel. The Chukars used a sweep of the doubles to start the day to propel them to victory, despite Bellevue winning four of six singles matches. Bean Lowe took home No. 1 singles winning 6-2, 6-0 over Elena Henry. Sadie Wilson won No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2, Meiweya Amazona won No. 4 singles 7-5, 6-3 and Shanna Chua claimed No. 5 singles 6-2, 7-5.

The Bulldogs, however, lost all three matches in doubles play.

On Sat. May 3, Bellevue lost 5-4 to Spokane in a battle for third and fourth place. The Bulldogs earned wins at No. 3 singles by Meiweya Amazona, No. 5 singles by Jilianne Legaspi and No. 6 singles by Lily Distelhorst. They also won No. 3 doubles as Emma Wetzel and Sadie Wilson won 8-3.
