Sawyer Young drilled home two early goals within the first five minutes as Bellevue women’s soccer topped host Shoreline 6-0 at Twin Ponds Park in North Seattle. Young was one of seven Bulldogs who got shots off as they controlled the ball throughout the entire game. Young scored solo goals at 5:00 and on the next possession at 5:53. Shoreline managed to get a shot off at 22:08 but BC goalkeeper Lillian Johnston made the save to keep the Dolphins off the scoreboard as the ‘dogs offense cooled down into halftime.
Kiana Deibler got in on the act after intermission with a quick goal just over five minutes into the half making it 3-0. The game became a blowout late as Robin Lull, Sophia Llarenas, and Melanie Salcido-Blanco all scored in the final 2o minutes as Shoreline’s defense wore down.
With the ball on Shoreline’s end for much of the game, Bellevue ‘keeper Johnston had little work to do, recording a shutout on only one shot on goal with one save.
Bellevue is 2-0-2 now in league play and 2-1-3 overall. They take their two game win streak into next week’s big game against undefeated Peninsula in a battle for first place on Wed. Oct. 1. The matchup will be hosted by Bellevue with a 4:15 p.m. start.
