Bulldog Volleyball Handles Shoreline

Bellevue College volleyball made it a quick night with a convincing three-set sweep (25-3, 25-9, 25-11) over visiting Shoreline at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. Bellevue had 13 kills with only two errors while the Dolphins had only one kill and seven errors as a preview of the rest of the night. Bellevue .426 while Shoreline was in the negatives at -.234.

In set one BC ran out of the gates on three consecutive kills by Gillian Merhoff then went ahead 20-1 on an ace by Mya Hejl before Shoreline finally got their second point.

In set two Bellevue ran ahead in similar fashion, up 17-2 as Hejl continued her dominance at the serve line with five aces in the set.

The Dolphins finally got into double digits in set three as the Dolphins ran off three consecutive points after a side out kill by Kelsey Edwards. Hejl slammed one home for match point to end the Shoreline brief rally.

Hejl hit .556 for the night and racked up eight aces. Liv Deckard had four aces as the team had 16 on the night with only four service errors. Merhoff swung at a red-hot .818 clip on nine kills and no errors while Lucci Unga dished out 18 assists.

The top-ranked Bulldogs are continuing their winning ways on their record-breaking season so far with the highly-anticipated showdown with Edmonds next Friday. Before the big match, the Bulldogs will head to Everett on Wed. Oct. 8 for a 7 p.m. first serve.
