Bellevue College volleyball took down the defending NWAC champion Skagit Valley Cardinals in a 3-0 sweep at DuVall Pavilion in Mount Vernon. The Bulldogs had to work hard in sets one and two, squeaking out 25-21 and 25-23 wins before sailing away with an easy set three, 25-14, due in part to 10 Skagit Valley errors in the final set.

In set one, the Cardinals’ misfortunes aided a BC comeback as the ‘dogs rallied from a 16-13 deficit to a 19-16 lead, which was never relinquished from there on as the errors by the Cardinals continued, giving Bellevue their final three points to close out the set.

In set two, the Bulldogs held the lead through most of the set until two consecutive kills by Skagit Valley’s Kaitlyn Harrington put them up 23-22. More Skagit errors down the stretch gave Bellevue a 24-23 lead before Mya Hejl ended the set with a kill.

The Bulldogs ran away with it after holding a narrow 13-10 lead. From there on BC went on a 6-0 run and won it with ease on consecutive kills by Olivia Chilton and Kiana Cueto.

Liv Deckard and Lina Burke each had 15 digs in the defensive effort while freshman Cadence Lyon had 10 kills and only one error hitting .529 to lead the offense. Ava Nowak and Maile Kuamo’o had five aces between the two of them and had only three serve receive errors on the night.
