Volleyball Sweeps Everett

Bellevue College volleyball fifth match in a row with a 3-0 sweep over visiting Everett at Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The Bulldogs won 25-20, 25-12, 25-9. It was the second consecutive night the ‘dogs held down their opponent to a negative hitting percentage as the Bulldogs racked up 12 block assists up front, led by Olivia Chilton who had five.

Set one was the lone set that Everett threatened, moving from a 21-15 deficit to 22-19 after a four point run. Mya Hejl and Gillian Merhoff had two kills in the final moments though to put an end to Everett’s rally.

Ava Nowak had the first two points in set two as the Bulldogs led 13-3 and never looked back. Merhoff and Hejl also had key kills in a five-point run that put Bellevue up 23-10. Hejl again ended set three with two consecutive kills in the 25-9 win to close out the match. Hejl’s 12 kills led Bellevue, swinging at a .688 clip. Setters Maile Kuamo’o and Lucci Unga had 18 and 15 assists respectively while sophomore libero Liv Deckard had 11 digs.

The Bulldogs are now 27-1 overall and 9-1 in North Region play. They travel to Edmonds Wed. Nov. 5 for a rematch pitting the top two teams in the NWAC.
