
For 79 minutes, Bellevue College women’s soccer battled host Highline College evenly before the Thunderbirds were able to pull away with a 2-1 victory in the opening round of the NWAC playoffs. Highline outshot Bellevue 10-5 in shots on goal as goalkeepers Lillian Johnston (five saves) and Paige Boyce (three saves) put up valiant efforts to keep the ‘dogs in the game the entire way.
Highline’s Ariana Mercado struck first after a scoreless first half with a goal at 56:00. The Bulldogs tied it back up on a Bethany Amante goal with 20 minutes remaining in the game. The score remained tied until Mercado found the back of the net again off an assist by Raighen Wendler at 79:00 which proved to be the game winner.
Bellevue closes out the 2025 season with a 7-5-3 record.
