Bellevue College men’s basketball continued their surge with another offensive explosion, hitting the century mark in a 102-68 drubbing over visiting Tacoma. The game, part of the Bellevue Classic featuring Walla Walla and Skagit Valley as well, was a mismatch from the beginning as the Bulldogs jumped ahead 11-2 on a Sawyer Cottrell three pointer just two minutes into the game. The lead then built to 20 then nearly 30 when an Isaiah White dunk put BC up 31-12.
Bellevue controlled in all aspects, outrebounding the Titans 19-11 while maintaining a 58% shooting clip including nearly 42% from three point range. Cottrell put on a show from the perimeter with 16 first half points while Daniel Kabamba, who was inserted into the starting lineup, had six rebounds and three assists before intermission as well.
The second half featured even hotter shooting at nearly 70% from the field while cashing in on 14-of-17 from the line. Head Coach Marcus Fermon was also able to rest his starters as all players on the roster came off the bench to contribute. Will Woodward was a perfect six-for-six from the field for 14 points in the second half to pick up the offensive surge left by Cottrell who rested much of the second half in the blowout win.
Cottrell had 23 while Josiah Johnson had 15 on five-for-seven shooting to pace the Bulldogs which saw five players in double figures for the second night in a row.
Bellevue is now 6-2 and will travel to Yakima Valley this Thu. Dec. 11 for the NWAC Crossover to face Linn-Benton. at 5 p.m.
