Baseball Takes On Rival Edmonds

Bellevue College baseball went 1-3 over the weekend in their final regular season series against Edmonds. On Fri. May 8 Bellevue won the opener 9-7 before falling 8-3. In game one, Bellevue’s Zach Hudson and Hawke Hansen hit home runs as the Bulldog offense shocked the visiting Tritons, putting up six runs early in the second inning on five hits, capped off by a bases loaded clearing double by Hudson. Hudson had 4 RBI’s in the game while Hansen had 3.

In the game two, Bellevue’s Will Woodward pitched a gem, going seven innings with 8 strikeouts and allowing only 2 earned runs, but the offense could not generate the big hit, despite outhitting Edmonds 12-7. Two big defensive miscues led to a big Edmonds eighth inning as the Tritons plated six runs to put the game away. Johnny Hall was 3-for-5 with a triple to lead the offense.

In Saturday’s games at Edmonds, Michael Komola had his second quality start in two weeks, but gave up two home runs which gave Edmonds the narrow 4-1 win. Ethan Sugimoto homered for Bellevue, the teams third home run over the weekend, while Braeden Reese went 2-for-4.

In the series finale, Bellevue out hit Edmonds 10-6; their third time in four games over the weekend, but could only muster one run in a 5-1 loss. Colin Fraser scattered only three Triton hits through five innings before Bellevue went to the remainder of their bullpen to get their relievers work for the upcoming playoffs, which the Bulldogs have already secured a berth in. Bobby Trigg was 3-for-4 for BC.

The Bulldogs, finished third in the North Region and will open up the NWAC Super Regionals in Eugene, OR. They will take on Yakima Valley, the East Region fourth seed on Fri. May 15 at Lane Community College.
