Bellevue College women’s soccer dropped a pair of games to open the 2026 campaign, falling 3-1 to Columbia Basin and 2-0 to Chemeketa at the season-opening NWAC Friendlies at Starfire Complex in Tukwila. Both Columbia Basin and Chemeketa were title contenders from last season, giving the Bulldogs a competitive opening two games.
The ‘dogs took on a tough Columbia Basin team on Tue. Aug. 18 and got off to a hot start as sophomore Sawyer Young scored 10 minutes into the game. The Hawks quickly struck back with a goal two minutes later, sending both teams to the sideline tied at halftime. Columbia Basin’s defense was able to make adjustments, shutting out the Bulldogs in the second half while scoring two more goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half to keep the ‘dogs at a distance.
On Wed. Aug. 19, the Bulldogs had chances as Olivia Juarez had two shots on goal while top returning sophomore Kiara Scheidt had one shot on goal along with freshmen Anna Sandnes and Olivia Nygard. Chemeketa’s Addison Mulkey was spectacular in the box for the Storm, recording the shutout.
Bellevue will travel to Eastern Washington to play Walla Walla and Columbia Basin in two scrimmages on Sept. 1-2.
