Bellevue College volleyball opened the 2026 season going 2-2 in the North Region Invite. On Fri. Aug. 21 the ‘dogs fell to Yakima Valley 3-0 (25-22, 25-23, 25-20) before topping another East Region foe, Columbia Basin 3-0 (25-23, 25-15, 25-15). In the opener against Yakima Valley, sophomore setter Lucci Unga had 13 assists while Cadence Lyon had nine kills. Bellevue’s sophomore setter combo of Unga and Maile Kuamo’o helped the ‘dogs’ offense with 11 and 13 assists respectively in the win over the Hawks. Lyon hit. .316 with seven kills while Tessa Mossburg had 10 digs and three service aces.
Bellevue lost to perennial powerhouse Linn-Benton from Oregon in straight sets 25-23, 25-19, 25-21 in their opening match on Sat. Aug. 22. The Roadrunners hit .600 in set two to keep the momentum their way. Ava Nowak had 12 kills to lead BC’s offense off 17 assists from Kuamo’o. Bellevue topped Clark in straight sets to win the tourney finale.
The Bulldogs, coming off a runner-up finish at the 2025 NWAC Championships, are ranked #1 to open up the season in the NWAC Coaches’ Poll. They host South Puget Sound this Tues. Aug. 25 at 7 PM.
