Bellevue College volleyball won all three matches over a three day stretch touring NWAC schools in Oregon, winning 3-1 over Clackamas, 3-0 over Mt. Hood, and 3-1 over Lane.
On Tue. Sept. 1 Bellevue won by scores of 17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-17 over Clackamas; a team that had beaten the Bulldogs last week. After losing set one, BC’s Ava Nowak took charge with killer swings, garnering 20 kills in the mathc with only three errors. Maya Velasquez hit .440 with 12 kills to add to the offense. Lucci Unga had 22 assists.
Bellevue swept the Mt. Hood Saints on Wed. Sept. 2 (25-18, 25-19, 25-16). Freshman Ja’elle Jenkins had an ace and a kill from the left side in a crucial span when the Saints battled back to a 17-15 deficit. Jenkins’ points sparked a five point run in which the ‘dogs took a commanding 22-15 lead in set one as they went on to win the set 25-18. Set two was one of the best showings of the Bulldog toughness as they battled back from an 11-16 deficit rally, going on a 14-3 run to win set two. Set three was another sign of comeback grit, falling behind 7-2 before flipping it with an 8-2 run. Another 7-0 run led by a pair of Nowak kills blew the Saints out for the win.
On Thu. Sept. 3, BC topped the Lane Titans by scores of 25-17, 17-25-25-17, 25-19. Statistics were unavailable for the match.
With the perfect record over the week, the ‘dogs move to 8-4 on the year and will travel to Lower Columbia on Tue. Sept. 8 at 7 p.m.
