
Bellevue College men’s soccer scored a goal in both halves against visiting Edmonds to win 2-0 in North Region play. Bellevue’s defense was stellar as the Bulldogs didn’t allow a single shot for the Tritons, making Bellevue goalkeeper Juan Carlos Lopez’ job easy for the entire game. The Bulldogs outshot the Tritons 11-0 and got on the board late in the first half on a solo effort by Angel Montes with six minutes remaining in the first half.
Sergio Mercado scored late in the second half at 79:41. Mercado had a chance earlier in the match at 53:01 The Bulldogs were close again at striking early in the second half as BC’s Yegor Tarasov just missed as the ball deflected off the post at 59:14. Lucas Tamalunas, Aiden Karkutly, and Andres Moreno all had shots as well but could not find the back of the net.
Bellevue is currently in second place in the North Region at 2-1 (4-1 overall). Their next game is Wed. Sept. 23 at Whatcom with kickoff set for 7:15 p.m.
