Bellevue College men’s soccer lost 1-0 in a defensive challenge between themselves and visiting Skagit Valley College. BC’s Juan Carlos Lopez Jr was stellar in the box with seven saves out of eight shots on goal, but the Cardinals’ Josh Ramirez scored on a penalty kick near the end of the first half which ultimately was the game-winner.
Carlos Lopez Jr. was busy from the beginning, as the Cardinals’ Jonathan Biti-Johansen nearly scored a minute into the game. The physical game between the two teams resulted in 23 fouls called. Sergio Mercado and Derek Remen had chances late in the second half, firing off consecutive shots, but Skagit goalkeeper Lucas Melnik was able to make the key stops to preserve the Skagit Valley win.
The Bulldogs are 2-3-1 in North Region play and have the weekend off before traveling to Port Angeles to take on Peninsula on Wed. Oct. 7 with kickoff set for 4:15 p.m.
