
Bellevue College women’s golf took home the title of the Highline Showdown, played at Oakbrook GC in Lakewood, WA. The Bulldogs used the competition they challenged last week as the lone two-year school facing older four-year players, to boost their confidence this week as they overwhelmed the competition by 16 strokes. The ‘dogs bested the runner-up South Puget Sound Clippers +53 to +69.
Bellevue’s strong play on day one, Sun. Oct. 4 separated themselves from the field as they shot +21; 14 strokes better than South Puget Sound. Mon. Oct. 5 was cruise control day as the ‘dogs shot +32 but still improved their lead by two strokes.
Malina Ta Amu shot 77-81 to take home medalist honors over teammate Hadley McDonough who shot 78-82. Ta Amu’s blistering Sunday round included two birdies. Ashtyn McClure shot rounds of 82-85 to finish tied for fifth.
The Bulldogs will now take a week off before making the long trek to Pendleton, OR for the Blue Mountain League Match at Wildhorse Resort on Sun.-Mon. Oct. 18-19.
