Bellevue College men’s soccer tied visiting Shoreline 1-1 on Sat. Oct. 10. In a game that featured 21 shots fired off between the two teams, the game became a battle of goalkeepers as Shoreline’s Brayden Tufts recorded eight saves while BC’s Juan Carlos Lopez Jr. had four.

The two teams had opportunities early on as both Shoreline and Bellevue got two shots on goal apiece in the first four minutes of the game. Neither team could find the back of the net until Bellevue’s Derek Remen scored with 10 minutes remaining in the first half on a penalty kick. The ‘dogs’ Sergio Mercado nearly made it 2-0 with just under two minutes remaining in the half but Tufts was able to make a save.

On their first possession in the second half, Bellevue had yet another golden opportunity to score but Mercado’s kick again was fended off by Tufts. Shoreline found the back of the net at 58:33 to make it a 1-1 tie. BC’s last legitimate shot for the win came at 66:58, but Lucas Tamalunas nearly missed as Tufts recorded yet another save for the Dolphins.

Bellevue is 2-4-2 in North Region play (4-4-2 overall) and will travel to Edmonds on Wed. Oct. 14 for a 7:15 p.m. kickoff.
