Bellevue College men’s golf ended the fall season on a high note by holding off a red-hot Skagit Valley team to win the Blue Mountain League Match held Sun.-Mon. Oct. 18-19 at Wildhorse GC and Casino Resort in Pendleton, OR. After posting an opening day -3, the ‘dogs found themselves in second place as Columbia Basin bested the Bulldogs by three strokes.
Heading into day two, it was Skagit Valley’s turn to go low, firing a scorching -9 as a team. Bellevue responded as Skagit climbed up the leaderboard by going low themselves, shooting seven under for the day to narrowly edge the Cardinals by one stroke. Bellevue finished at -10 as Henry Mills was on fire finishing at 13 under par for the tourney, firing rounds of 65-66. He finished three strokes ahead of Logan Medcalf, who has been Mills’ nemesis all fall as the two of them having been dueling for top golfer of the NWAC so far.
Freshman Orin Munson finished sixth overall shooting 73-70. Jack Leary (71-73) and Josh Ament (78-72) finished ninth and 26th overall to round out BC’s team scoring.
The Bulldogs now head into winter training as the fall season has come to an end with Bellevue and Skagit Valley each winning one league match apiece setting up another showdown spring between the two clubs who battled all season last year.
