Bellevue College baseball won all four games in different fashion over the weekend over Olympic College. The wins put Bellevue in fourth place and only a game back of Skagit Valley, who Bellevue closes with next weekend to finish the regular season.
On Saturday May 4, Bellevue’s Nick Kiel tossed a two-hitter while striking out eight in the complete game win 1-0. In game two, Bellevue won 11-1 in eight innings due to the run rule. Nick Pribble’s single over the left fielder’s head ended the game in the bottom of the eighth. Pribble, Traishawn Patrick, Sheldon Stober, and Max Brown all had two hits as the Bulldogs had 13 in the game. Jake Reppert went the distance in his final home game in his three year career at Bellevue. He scattered five hits in addition to the lone run in the game for Olympic.
On Sunday May 5, the Bulldog hitters continued their hot hitting and picked up the pitchers by coming back from deficits in both games. In game one, down 6-3 in the fifth inning, Bellevue plated three runs in both the fifth and sixth innings to take the lead and eventually winning 9-6. Pribble’s triple got things going in the three-run sixth and was 4-for-4 in the game. Cody Culp came in and allowed only two hits in four innings of relief for the win. In game two, Dustin Doucette came in and was the second Bellevue pitcher to keep the Bulldogs in the game with long relief as Bellevue won 7-4. Jordan Richartz went 4-for-5 in the game with three RBI’s. He was 6-for-9 on the day. Stober, whose batting average has risen over fifty points in the last three weeks, had three hits also.
The Bulldogs, who have won seven of their last eight, will battle Skagit Valley this upcoming weekend in what should be for the final playoff berths. The top four teams in the North Region qualify for the region tourney. Bellevue will play it’s final home game of the season this Saturday May 11 against Skagit Valley before heading up to Mount Vernon for the season finale on Mother’s Day Sunday May 12. The doubleheaders on both days begin at 1PM.
