The Bellevue College softball team has faced numerous rain outs the past few weeks, but the Bulldogs finally got some clear skies and were able to play games Sunday, April 3, hosting Clark College on the Bellevue campus. While the weather has kept them from playing lately, the bats stayed hot during the break games as the Bulldogs pounded out 26 runs and 28 hits over two games to beat Clark 13-1 and 13-3.
In game one, Breonna Chrisman threw four innings, giving up just one run on two hits. Rogin Hardy threw one inning of scoreless relief. Offensively, the Bulldogs exploded for 13 runs on 14 hits. Hardy, Kristen Allen and Emily Squiers had homeruns in the game to lead the offensive outburst.
In game two, Danielle Orvella picked up the win, scattering five hits over five innings. Hardy took over the mount in the sixth, throwing another scoreless inning of relief. The bats stayed busy in game two as well as the Bulldogs again put up 13 runs and 14 hits. Hardy, Squiers (x2) Emily Guluarte, Nicole Rogers and Tobey Varney hit doubles in the game and Varney, Hardy and Rogers also added homeruns. Rogers’ homerun in the sixth was a grand slam to end the game early due to the run-rule.
The Bulldogs, now 2-0 in league and 9-1 overall, travel to Shoreline Community College Tuesday, April 5, before hosting Everett Community College on Thursday in a make-up game in league play.
