Bellevue College men’s soccer opened up their 2025 campaign with two 1-0 wins at the NWAC Friendlies, held in Salem, OR. On Tuesday Aug. 19, the Bulldogs won in the final seconds over Walla Walla before topping Portland on Wednesday Aug. 20.
Defense led BC in both games as goalkeepers Juan Carlos Lopez Jr and Mason Duarte each recorded shutouts in the box. Lopez Jr. had three saves while the defense limited Walla Walla to just three shots on goal. In the second game, Duarte recorded the shutout with two saves.
Diego Romero scored off a feed from Sergio Mercado as time expired in the dramatic Tuesday win over Walla Walla. In the Wednesday Portland win, Hamza Elmetwally scored the lone goal in the game for BC early on 17 minutes into the first half on an assist by Benjamin Huller.
The Bulldogs host Northwest University this Sat. Aug. 23 at 11 a.m.
