

Bellevue College volleyball continued along their path towards dominance of the NWAC with another undefeated weekend going 4-0 at the Blazer-Clipper Classic in Centralia and Olympia this weekend. On Fri. Sept. 5 the Bulldogs swept Tacoma 3-0 before taking down co-host Centralia 3-0.
In the opening win over Tacoma, BC won with ease by sets of 25-14, 25-16, and 25-14. Hitting .347, the ‘dogs were also deadly from the serve line with 11 aces and only three service errors. Lina Burke had four aces and seven digs in middle back while Ava Nowak had 10 digs. Setters Lucci Unga and Maile Kuamo’o had 16 and 14 sets respectively.
In the nightcap, Bellevue had a tougher time but still swept the Blazer 25-18, 25-21, 25-20. Nowak was all over in back row again with 15 digs while Liv Deckard, the sophomore libero convert, had 16. Karisa Martin hit .500 with 13 kills and only one error.
On Sat. Sept. 6 Bellevue traveled to Olympia for day two and swept South Puget Sound 25-12, 25-23, 25-19. The Bulldogs swung the heavy hand again with a .358 clip as opposite Kawehi Sarono had nine kills and hit .571. Kuamo’o had 19 assists. Olivia Chilton had seven kills and two solo blocks.
The finale led to yet another sweep, 25-11, 25-21, 25-16 over Clackamas. Sophomores Martin and Mya Hejl had 11 and nine kills respectively and hit a combined .550. The two combined for 35 swings and had only two errors. Deckard had 15 digs for Bellevue.
The 12 set sweep over the weekend puts BC at a perfect 12-0 to start the year. They host Lower Columbia this Tues. Sept. 9 at 7 p.m.
