Bellevue College women’s soccer escaped without a loss to visiting Whatcom as Natalie Jas nailed a penalty kick home with just over six minutes remaining in the game to salvage a 2-2 tie.

Bellevue was down the entire game after surrendering an early goal at 9:46 but kept the Orcas scoreless for the remainder of the half, down just 1-0 at intermission. The Bulldogs had chances as shots by Oteta Kitiona, Sawyer Young, Malia Brown, and Karly Ellis couldn’t fall in the first half.

Whatcom wasted no time with their second goal just three minutes into the second half but BC answered on the next possession with a goal from Sarai Perdomo off a connection with Smith. Down 2-1 BC was saved by Jas near the end of regulation. Both teams’ offense had plenty of opportunities with a whopping 14 (eight by Bellevue, six by Whatcom) shots on goal for the day.

Bellevue is 0-0-2 in region play and 0-1-3 overall. The ‘dogs will be looking for their first win of the season this Sat. Sept. 20 vs. Skagit Valley at home. Kickoff is set for 2:15 p.m.
