Bellevue College men’s basketball lost 97-76 to host South Puget Sound in the opening game for both squads of the 2025-26 season. Bellevue fell behind 51-35 after the half and could not recover, as the defense could not match the Clippers’ efforts. The Bulldogs managed only 12 defensive rebounds in the game while South snagged 27. The Clippers cashed in after crashing the boards early, making 63% of their shots on 19-for-30. Bellevue relied on the long ball as Sawyer Cottrell made four-of-five from three-point land to keep the Bulldogs’ offense alive in the first half.
The Bulldogs got slaughtered underneath not only in the rebounding category but scoring as well, as the Clippers muscled their way to a 56-22 scoring advantage inside.
Cottrell led BC with 17 points while newcomer Will Woodward, a University of Washington transfer playing in his first competitive game in four years, chipped in 15 points.
Bellevue takes on Portland today, Sat. Nov. 15, at 1 p.m. on South Puget Sound’s court in Olympia.
