
Bellevue College men’s basketball scored over 100 points for the second consecutive game in a 103-73 blowout over Linn-Benton of Oregon at the Yakima NWAC Crossover Tourney. The Bulldogs controlled the game with sharp shooting and strong rebounding, owning the boards by a 45-33 margin.
Early on the Bulldogs were down 9-5 and held a narrow 25-24 lead at 11:55 in the first half before the offense caught their rhythm. Caden Culver nailed a three point shot then followed with a field goal on the next posession to give BC some cushion at 29-24. Shawn Etheridge and Max Mayo drained back-to-back three pointers to push the Bellevue lead to 37-26 with 8:58 to go in the half. The Roadrunners were able to chip away keeping the game close until the final minute before Josiah Johnson made a jumper to put the ‘dogs back up by 11 heading into halftime.
The Bulldogs ran off the first seven points in the second half to go up 58-42 as Will Woodward made two free throws. The hot shooting stepped up a notch as BC extended the lead up to 30 at 83-53 on an Isaiah White basket. The ‘dogs were 21-41 from the field in the second half while Linn-Benton went ice cold shooting only nine-for-30.
Culver had the hot hand sinking nine-of-13 from the field with four assists. His 22 points were followed by White’s 21. Daniel Kabamba had 10 points and pulled down a team high seven rebounds.
The Bulldogs face Grays Harbor on day two of the tourney tomorrow Fri. Dec. 12 with tipoff set for 5 p.m.
