
Bellevue College basketball played their final game before the holiday break defeating Pierce College on the road, 78-60. Will Woodward led Bellevue in both scoring and rebounds, putting in 20 points on nine-for-17 shooting and 14 rebounds.
In the first half, BC built a comfortable 44-25 lead thanks to a rebounding advantage of 29-13 over the Raiders, coupled with a 28% shooting clip from Pierce’s offense. Josiah Johnson had the hot hand in the breakaway first half for Bellevue scoring 15 of his 19 points in the half. He was a perfect five-for-five from the line as well and had five rebounds. Johnson’s dunk early on at 10:43 pushed Bellevue to a 16-12 lead which started the distancing of the Bulldog lead after Pierce hung tough with the ‘dogs for the first part of the game.
Bellevue now has the longest win streak in the conference at 10, and are now 10-2 in non-conference play. Bellevue also jumped from 10th to 5th in the NWAC Coaches’ Poll; the biggest mover along with SW Oregon CC. Bellevue will host Lower Columbia on Tue. Dec. 30 at 6 p.m.
