Women’s Basketball Take Down Edmonds

Bellevue College women’s basketball used a 12-1 first quarter advantage to seize control early in a 72-37 blowout over host Edmonds in North Region play. Aysha Peter’s three pointer less than a minute into the game set the tone before adding another to put BC up 6-1. Leeschelle Sohappy nailed one from long range in the closing minute as the ‘dogs used the long ball to jump out to the commanding lead.

The Tritons broke their six minute scoreless streak cutting the BC lead to 14-4 early in the second quarter, but the Bulldogs’ depth provided scoring all around as Kori Margain came off the bench for Bellevue and had four rebounds and three points.

The scoring went up a notch in the second half as Bellevue threw in 45 points. Sohappy made all of her shots she put up and had nine points in the quarter in the 22-10 third quarter. Margain, in her best performance all year, was a perfect three for three in the fourth while Katen Myers had five points and four rebounds in the 23 point quarter.

Bellevue held a 52-32 rebounding lead and was led by Sohappy’s 14 points and Peter’s 13. DeAndrea Woods-Singleton had 10 rebounds while Margain had 11 points and nine rebounds.

The Bulldogs are now 6-2 in league and host Everett this Sat. Feb. 7 at 4 P.M.
