Bellevue College men’s basketball used a 42-20 first half differential to cruise to an easy 74-54 win at Peninsula in NWAC North Region play. The Bulldogs took advantage of an ice cold 21% shooting percentage turned in by the Pirates in the first half. The long ball brought no luck to Peninsula as they went two-for-13 from three point land, making early efforts to make up for the deficit built up by the ‘dogs.
After an early tie at 9-9 seven minutes into the first half, the Bulldogs broke loose, going on an 11-0 run to jump ahead to a commanding 20-9 lead, then a 23-11 margin on a three pointer by Josiah Johnson with 8:26 remaining in the half. The ‘dogs would go on another run; this time a 7-0 breakout to push the lead to 32-15.
In an evenly played second half, the ‘dogs kept the comfortable lead near 20 points for the entire half as the entire Bulldog roster was used, going 10 deep off the bench in a team effort all around.
Will Woodward was seven for nine from the field and had 14 points while Darek Usitalo earned a spot start and made the most of it with a team high seven rebounds and nine points.
Bellevue remains unbeaten in North Region play at 10-0 and 23-2 overall. They take their 23 game win streak into this Saturday’s home game vs. Shoreline. Tipoff is set for 2 P.M.
