
Bellevue College men’s golf made a run but fell just shy of the NWAC title, losing by just two strokes to Skagit Valley College. The tourney, held at Apple Tree GC in Yakima, was a two day event starting Sun. May 17. The Bulldogs put themselves in a tough position after finishing day one six strokes back at +15. Skagit Valley posted a +9 on Sunday. Henry Mills and Kai Lambro paced BC on day one, carding 75’s. Isaac Elaimy posted a 38 out and in to shoot 76 while Milo Stover recovered from a rough start by posting four birdies to salvage a 77.
On day two, the ‘dogs came out sizzling, at one point three under shaving the Skagit Valley lead to just one stroke, but the Cardinals’ top three went low as Skagit’s Logan Medcalf carded a 68 to earn medalist honors. Elaimy and Lambro shot three under 69’s to pace BC’s heroic comeback efforts. Stover birdied holes 16 and 18 to make it interesting by shooting 71, but Skagit Valley’s top four went -3 through the final three holes to lock the title.
Lambro’s 75-69 earned him second place overall in the individual standings while the ‘dogs claimed fifth through seventh place as Elaimy finished fifth (76-69), Mills sixth (75-72), and Stover seventh (77-71).
