Bellevue College women’s soccer controlled the game in nearly every aspect and led 1-0 late in the game, but came away empty-handed in a 1-1 draw with visiting Whatcom. Bellevue had 10 shots on goal, but Whatcom’s Larissa Pluschakov was stellar in the box recording nine saves.
Brynne Cope and Sawyer Young had good shot opportunities but were fended off by Pluschakov within the first ten minutes of the match. Parker Olson’s penalty kick was stopped as well before Olson finally found the back of the net with a goal midway through the first half. Kiara Scheidt and Arianna Heim also had two close shots late in the half as BC went into halftime up 1-0.
Cope, Olson, and Scheidt all had opportunities in the second half but had no luck. Whatcom’s Ella Hansen tied it on a corner kick at 74:18. Schiedt’s shot on goal was BC’s last chance with 12 minutes to go.
Bellevue is 4-4-2 in North Region play and will host Everett this Sat. Oct. 24 at noon.
