Bellevue College men’s soccer stayed competitive with visiting Everett in nearly every category, but eventually fell 1-0. The Trojans entered as the third-ranked team in the conference in the recent Oct. 20 coaches’ poll rankings.

Although the offense did not have many opportunities to score in the first half, Bellevue’s defense kept the ‘dogs in the game as goalkeeper Juan Carlos Lopez, Jr. had two saves; both in the first 15 minutes of the game. Three corner kick attempts by the Trojans were also unsuccessful as the two teams went into halftime tied at 0-0.

The Trojans finally broke the tie with an early goal in the second half by Ky Iliev. Bellevue came close to answer back on consecutive possessions as Andres Moreno and Kudai Osada both had shots on goal. Yegor Tarasov and James Cairns also had near goals late in the game with less than 10 minutes remaining but could not find the back of the net as Trojan ‘keeper Eduardo Gonzalez was spectacular in goal all day with four saves.

The Trojans entered the game with an 8-1-1 record on top of the North Region standings. Although the ‘dogs fell on the short end, the two teams were evenly matched statistically on Bellevue’s sophomore day, as BC’s 11 sophomores were honored on their final home game of the season. Bellevue travels to Skagit Valley to close out the season on Wed. Oct. 28 at 4:15 p.m.
