BC sophomore Averi Dyer was named a first-team Two-Year College All-American by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Dyer, an outside hitter, helped the Bulldogs to the NWAC North Region title and a second-place finish in the 2017 NWAC Championships.
The Bulldogs return four of their top five scorers from last season’s 19-victory squad, but developing depth will be a key to challenging again for the upper echelon of the NWAC North Region.
The Donald Brady era at Bellevue College got off to a good start, but the first-year coach realizes there is still a lot of work ahead. The Bulldogs opened the season by winning the Pierce Thanksgiving Tournament, including a 102-101 semifinal victory over Linn-Benton in which BC overcame a 15-point halftime deficit.
Bellevue College will host the women’s basketball Bulldog Classic, Dec. 1-3 at the Courter Family Athletic Pavilion. The tournament field also includes Umpqua, Highline and North Idaho. BC opened its season by winning two out of three games at the North Idaho Crossover, Nov. 17-19.
Bellevue College won the 14th Annual Pierce Raiders Thanksgiving Classic Tournament. The Bulldogs beat the Clackamas Cougars (3-2), 77-74, in the championship game. Yonathan Michael had 33 points in the championship game to seal the win.

With the new NWAC letter of intent date moved up to November 1 this year, the Bellevue College Bulldog baseball staff took full advantage of it by signing 14 incoming players for their class of 2018. Bellevue College was well-represented on the 2017 NWAC Fall Sports Academic Excellence Awards with seven student-athletes named to the list. Four BC men’s soccer players received conference academic recognition, along with two members of the women’s soccer team and one volleyball player.
Down two sets to one, halfway thru the fourth set, top-ranked Chemeketa was trailing seventh-ranked Bellevue 11-4 after surrendering eight straight points. Then the Storm ran off a 21-10 run to end the fourth set in a 25-21 win. The Storm then won the deciding set.
The Chemeketa Storm and Bellevue Bulldogs will square off Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Greater Tacoma Convention Center in Tacoma, Wash. The match will feature the NWAC’s top two teams in kill efficiency. The Bulldogs had the top number .243 followed by the Storm’s .229.Chemeketa came into the tournament ranked No. 1 and is riding a 23-win match streak.
