The Bellevue College golf team was resurrected in 2006 and continues to be one of the top programs in the region. In 2017-18, the Bulldog’s men’s team finished third in the NWAC standings, just four points behind North Idaho.
At the NWAC Golf Championship tournament, the Bulldogs forged a four-shot lead after the first day, but saw regular-season leader North Idaho come back to tie it and then win the title on a tie-breaker.
BC sophomore Kevin Simmons tied for third at 143, three shots behind medalist Sean Langham of North Idaho. Sophomore teammate Evan Galando was one shot back in fifth place and freshman TJ Wurtz finished ninth.
Simmons was a first-team all-NWAC selection, with Curtis Koltermann being named to the second team.
The program has garnered several team and individual successes. Most notably, former Bulldog Richard Lee starred at the University of Washington and is now on the PGA Tour. The men’s team captured the NWAC Championship in stunning fashion in 2010, as well as runner-up finishes in 2008, 2013 and 2015. The Bellevue College program also has sent several golfers on to NCAA Division I programs.
