The Bellevue College golf team was resurrected in 2006 and continues to be one of the top programs in the region. In 2016, the Bulldog’s men’s team finished sixth at the NWAC championships, unable to hold on to its first-day lead. Dexter Simonds finished tied for eighth overall as a freshman and Eddie Abellar tied for13th.
Brady Campbell was a first-team all-NWAC selection in 2016, with Simonds earning second-team honors.
The program has garnered several team and individual successes. Most notably, former Bulldog Richard Lee starred at the University of Washington and is now on the PGA Tour. The men’s team captured the NWAC Championship in stunning fashion in 2010, as well as runner-up finishes in 2008, 2013 and 2015. The Bellevue College program also has sent several golfers on to NCAA Division I programs.
Assistant coach Keith Mickle has been named interim head coach for both the men’s and women’s golf teams at Bellevue College for the 2016-17 season, taking over for Bryan Stevens. Mickle, an assistant at BC since the fall of 2015, is the former coach at Forest Ridge School in Bellevue. He was voted Coach of the Year three times in his nine years at the helm before moving to the college level.
