1 Tuesday, 2:30-4:00 p.m., October 20; Online
Designed for STEM faculty who would like to add practical active learning strategies to their courses and create more opportunities for student engagement. Whether you lecture regularly or are looking for small ways to make your class time even more interactive, this workshop is for you. A live Zoom meeting will explore common supplements to lectures with an emphasis on easy-to-adopt practices, like Peer Instruction. Some larger-scale changes like the flipped classroom model will also be discussed. Participants will then discuss with their peers what common difficulties they see their students encounter. After the Zoom meeting, participants will develop a concrete class activity plan that incorporates active learning.
4 PD Hours; $120 stipend for attending the session & completing a pre-workshop activity and a final deliverable.
