Originally from Berkeley (Yellowjacket), Alex Jones got her undergraduate degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz (Banana Slug) where she majored in Dramatic Literature and learned to bodysurf. After attending the University of Washington (Husky) where she received a MA in American Literature, she went directly into teaching — first at North Seattle, and then at the International & English Language Programs at the UW – proving everyone who warned her Someday, you’ll have to enter the real world! wrong.
Alex Jones has over 30 years’ experience working with students and programs at the University of Washington. While Alex has taught a wide variety of courses, she has excelled in the Academic English Program writing sequence and in the Intensive English Program University Track preparation courses. For many years she has been an instructor in ENGL105 English for International Teaching Assistants (ITAs) This teacher-training course is designed specifically for ITAs who will be teaching at the University of Washington. When she isn’t teaching, Alex likes to read and take long walks to the bookstore to get more to read.
