Borrowing Policies
Bellevue College employees and students who are currently enrolled in a course may use their ctcLink ID number to borrow library materials. A total of 20 items may be checked out at any time.

These items can be checked out for three weeks. You can request to renew the item to keep it for an additional three weeks.
Students can borrow DVDs for three days. They can be renewed for an additional three days.
Employees can borrow DVDs for seven days. They can be renewed for an additional seven days.
These items have varying loan terms. The shortest loan period is two hours. The longest loan period is three days. The length of the loan is chosen by the instructor or department who placed the item on hold.
Course reserves cannot be renewed.
There are two types of calculator loans.
Short-term loan calculators can be checked out out for three hours. They are not eligible for renewal.
Quarterly calculators can be checked out for the entire quarter. They are renewable for one additional quarter.
Hotspots can be checked out for the entire quarter. They are renewable for one additional quarter.
Short-term laptops can be checked out for four hours.
Quarterly laptops can be checked out for the entire quarter.
Speak to the Tech Hub about extending the borrowing period on these items.
Equipment borrowed from the Tech Hub has varying loan periods. Ask the tech hub how long a piece of equipment may be borrowed for.
These items cannot be borrowed. They are for in library use only
Library users needing more time with their borrowed library materials can request an extension of their borrowing period. This is called renewing an item. You can do this in person, online through your library account, or via phone by calling the Circulation Desk at 425-564-2252.
Some items cannot be renewed or have limits on how many times they can be renewed. See the Loan Periods section for details.
Holds may be placed on books, magazines, journals, and DVDs in the library. This means that the item will be pulled from the shelf and waiting for you behind the front desk.
You can also place a hold on an item checked out by another user. You will be notified by email when the item is ready for you to pickup.
When materials become overdue, the borrower will be notified by email. If a library user has returned library item(s) that are still showing on their record, please call 425-564-2252, visit the Circulation Desk, or email the Circulation Department for assistance.
If course reserve items and equipment including calculators and hotspots are not returned within three days of the due date, the borrower will be billed a replacement cost for the items.
If books and magazines are not returned within 21 days of the due date, the borrower will be billed a replacement cost for the items.
Replacement costs vary depending on the item. The bill will be sent to the borrower by email and the fees will show up in their Financial Account on ctcLink.
Library materials can be returned to the Circulation Desk during library open hours, or the book-drop outside of the main library entrance at any time.
Faculty and staff may send library materials to Library Circulation, Mailstop D260.
All library users are responsible for the materials they check out. If materials are damaged while in the possession of the user and are beyond repair or no longer able to circulate (examples of damage include soiled pages or water damage, teeth marks, mold, mildew, missing or torn pages), replacement costs will be charged as for Lost Materials.
Checking out and checking in damaged materials:
Library users whose borrowed items were stolen, lost, or damaged due to circumstances beyond their control may call 425-564-2252 or visit the Circulation Desk to speak with staff. They may also email Circulation for assistance. We know that every person’s situation is unique, and we are interested in working with you to find a resolution.
Replacement costs charged will be the Amazon.com list price + 10%. For rare items or when the price cannot be determined, replacement costs will be determined by the Collection Development Librarian.
Lost and damaged zines will be assessed with a replacement charge of $5.00.
