Delivery Mode: Hybrid. Participants must be available to attend two virtual class meetings (one 90-minute, and one 45-minute meeting). Additional time in Canvas is required.

Ways to meet this requirement: Successful completion of this Essential Components of a Quality Online course or prior completion of a QM IYOC workshop.

Register for OETA-07: Accessibility Review with an Online Instructor

OETA Completion Timeline

New Faculty hired who will be teaching online, will need to complete:

  • Phase One – Complete within one (1) quarter of their start date.
  • Phase Two – Complete within one (1) year of their start date.

For Faculty who teach a hybrid class or an on-ground class we recommend that they complete OETA Phase 1. Stipends are available.

OETA 1 – Canvas Procedures: This course provides information about using Canvas tools to comply with higher education regulations. Faculty will apply resources to maintain the integrity of Canvas course content.

OETA 2 – Canvas 101: This course provides an introduction to using the Canvas Learning Management System. Faculty will create a basic course in Canvas and view core functions from a student’s prospect.

OETA 3 – Essential Components of a Quality Online Course: This course synthesizes online course design checklists and quality standards into a single set of 16 design elements that are essential for a quality online course. Participants review their own courses against this list, share ideas with their colleagues, and reflect on ways to improve their course design.
