From OLS Bellevue College to Salesforce: OLS Alumni Stories

Please join us in congratulating OLS Bellevue College (OLSBC) Alumna Mary, Class of 2024, on her recent hire at Salesforce. Mary works as an Office Assistant at Salesforce, completing various administrative tasks for her new role, including setting up/resetting conference and phone rooms, setting up computer desks, making spreadsheets for the lost and found, and taking computer cords up to the computer hub station. When we asked her what her favorite part about her job is, she replied, “So far, my favorite part about my job at Salesforce is everything. I enjoy everything about my tasks.”

Mary utilizes public transportation to get to and from her job and works around 20-23 hours per week in her role. Although having a job has meant an adjustment to her daily life—she spends about an hour commuting each day and doesn’t have as much free time to play on her computer—having a job has made a positive impact on her life. “It has given me the chance to make new friends at my workplace, and I enjoy working,” she said of the new job.

She also feels that the OLSBC program helped her prepare for this next chapter of her life. Classes like Personal Finance, Citizenship, Cultural Awareness, and Field Experience (which required her to complete a 250+ hour internship) have all helped her in her new job and daily life as a college graduate.

As for other students with learning disabilities thinking about starting the OLSBC program, Mary had a few words of encouragement to take the leap. “I think other students with learning disabilities should consider [OLSBC] for their degree because the teachers are very nice and accommodating. They will learn lots of different topics from different classes, and they will also meet and make new friends with a lot of new people with different disabilities at school events and in classes.”

Congratulations, Mary! We are so happy for this next chapter and your success.
