Welcome to the GBV Prevention Office!

At Bellevue College, the GBV Prevention Office has gone through many phases and challenges through Covid-19 and we are excited to come back to campus with you all! The office is here today because of many students, staff, and faculty who have worked hard to secure funding from the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) Campus Grant from the Department of Justice, which was created by Congress in recognition of the unique issues and challenges that colleges and universities face. This grant is under the purview of the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) which fully funds and mandates the GBVP Office. The Campus Program grant provides funds to be used in preventing and responding to domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking (DVSAS) on campus.

Bellevue College has been awarded twice despite a global pandemic! Additionally, only 52 colleges in the nation were chosen for this grant cycle and Bellevue College was 1 out of 3 chosen from Washington.  It is a BIG a big deal to be awarded twice! You can learn more about how we got here on the timeline below!

Prevention education and advocacy will adapt to virtual, hybrid, and in person over time as we updated based on campus needs. Resources will be updated online and in person to reflect who to contact for advocacy and support to make reaching out more accessible for students.
