A Visit To RISE

A small group of students stand at a table and check out a project together

Students recently took a tour of the RISE Center on Main Campus to gain understanding of how advances in Technology work. The RISE Center has a workshop to learn how to create things by sewing or design clothing that integrates technology in to it. This activity give the students a chance to develop Skills for Work like working with 3D technology.

Check out what our student Will had to say about it:

“Technology has advanced over the years. New ways of creating art and sculptures have appeared everywhere and even right here in our own backyard of Bellevue, Washington. The OLS course Computer Applications in the Workplace to a trip to the Bellevue College main campus to visit the RISE center. RISE stands for Research, Innovation, Service, Experimental Learning Institute. There the class was given a tour by Michael Reese the Director of Program Development of the RISE Center. We were given the opportunity to see what students have created with the various machines and equipment in the RISE Labs. The coolest thing there was the 3D printer. When we arrived at the center the printer was creating a frog and there were various 3D prints all around the room. It is amazing what we can create in the 21st century, and I can’t wait to see what the future will bring.”

Computer Applications in the Workplace is one of the many courses OLS Students take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program register for an Information Session.
