The Benefits of Daily Walks

One of the electives OLS students can take during our program is our Walking & Jogging course. Throughout the course, students learn about and experience the many benefits of exercise: feeling happier, reducing risk of chronic disease, improving brain health and memory, improving sleep quality, increasing energy levels, and much more. Students also learn how to calculate and monitor their heart rate.

Every Monday and Thursday morning, students take a 45-minute walk together around various parts of our neighborhood including Bridal Estates, the 520 pedestrian path, Microsoft campus, and other surrounding neighborhoods. In addition to the exercise they get, students get to enjoy the fresh air and interact with one another in a casual way and experience the outdoors together.

“Walking and Jogging has been more fun than I thought! I like talking to new people in my class and have made a new friend on Monday mornings.” (Anonymous student)

Walking & Jogging is an elective course OLS Students can take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. To learn more about our program register for an Information Session.
