Hands On with Virtual Reality

The Apps and Tech course visited the XR/VR lab located inside the Library Media Center on the Bellevue College Main Campus on February 19th. The XR/VR lab provides students an access to virtual world technologies and allows for augmented learning experiences for students. The students had the opportunity to use the Oculus headsets and explore the different programs available for use with them.

This community activity allows the students to explore new and emerging learning opportunities and allowed the students to go places they have never been without leaving the campus.

One app that provided a unique learning experience for the students was Notes on Blindness, which is a documentary film. This film has been incorporated into an app that allows someone to understand how people with limited vision experience life. The students also had a chance to experience other VR apps that placed them under the ocean and swimming with whales or experience life in a refugee camp in Jordan.

Apps and Technology is one of the many courses OLS Students take to obtain their associate degree from OLS. More information about our curriculum is available on our website. To learn more about our program register for an Information Session.
