OLS Bellevue College Earth Day Student Discussion

In honor of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day last week, OLS Bellevue College students in the Critical Thinking Through Science course met virtually for an engaging discussion about Earth Day and what people can do in their everyday lives to help combat climate change and other issues we are facing.

Students were also shown the infograph below and asked to pick one thing they could do each day to help.

Here are the action items they picked:

Hannah: Use reusable bags when I go shopping

Ryan: Invest in filters to filter out air pollution, like what they do in Switzerland

Panida: Don’t throw trash in lakes, etc; that will harm animals

Ryan: Electric bus transit fleet, solar energy, bike motor energy, LED Light bulbs

Franky: Run to Greenlake, recycle plastic and paper, and buy organic food products.

Ellamae: Ride bikes and not your car

Panida: Conserve water

Zora: You can refill your shampoo bottle with one that you can order from amazon in a cardboard box so you can reduce plastic

Kenassa: Recycle more paper

Allison: Go outside
